Professor James Driscoll is a solicitor, an author and a Judge (part-time) at
the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber). For 20 years he was a consultant
solicitor with Trowers & Hamlins specialising in housing law. A prolific author
of books and articles, he is the Consultant Editor to the Butterworths
Residential Landlord and Tenant Handbook, to Halsbury’s Laws (volume 56,
‘Housing’ and volumes 62, 63 and 64 ‘Landlord and Tenant’) and he has
written several other books and loose-leaf works including the Handbook of
Residential Tenancies (Thomsons).
James is a consultant editor to the Landlord and Tenant Reports and he
regularly contributes articles to the Estates Gazette, the New Law Journal
and other publications.
He is also a well-known speaker at conferences on housing and property law
speaking to lawyers, surveyors and other property professionals.
James has held several academic positions in England and the USA. He is
Emeritus Professor of Law at London South Bank University.
Professor Driscoll is an ADR accredited mediator.
